A

Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)

is the formal written document that describes welding procedures to guides welding operators to make sound and quality production welds according to the code requirements. This is basically to use repeatable and trusted welding techniques.

A

Procedure Qualification Record (PQR)

supports WPS. A PQR is a record of a test Weld performed and tested more rigorously to produce a good weld. Individual Welders are certified with a qualification test documented in a Welder Qualification Test Record to show that they have the understanding and demonstrated ability to work within the specified WPS.
